  • Trunk: long smooth bark, shiny grey-green, late bark formation, longitudinally fissured scaly bark
  • Crown: loosely conical
  • Leaves: 5 needles per sheath, 7-12 cm long, very thin, soft, flexible
  • Fruits/seeds: narrowly cylindrical cones, up to 20 cm long, usually curved
