Sulphur-crested Cockatoo spotted by philtastro: “6 cockies came to the balcony, at least 2 had a drink. One had an injured foot - one of the back toes was bent forward. No apparent issues walking, so presumably an old injury.” in the Big City Birds App on 12.08.2023

White Ibis spotted by bootk: “2 birds, wandering around the children's playground foraging in the mulch used as base for the playground. Not sure if they are foraging insects or left over food dropped by kids. Playground is full of noisy crazy kids and their parents. Birds seem unperturbed. They move away if kids chase or they are about to be hit by the flying fox of swings, but otherwise are calm and carry on. One also moved to behind the toilet block where the grass is much longer and the ground damp. Possibly excess water here from pipes means more worms or grubs in the ground.” in the Big City Birds App on 12.08.2023

Other bird spotted by bootk: “A young Magpie has recently started coming into our backyard to forage in the grass. Only been visiting a week or so. Although it is shy, it doesn't seem worried if I am in the backyard with it. We haven't fed it at all, yet it seems to know we might. It came right up the back steps to our back door despite us never feeding it before. It ocassionally calls and sings its usual song. Then will suddenly become very nervous and takes off and I notice another Magpie has come to chase it away. Odd, as I've never noticed any other Magpies in our backyard. It is very sweet and so I leave it be and it goes about poking into the lawn looking for food.” in the Big City Birds App on 09.08.2023
