Sulphur-crested Cockatoo spotted by BirdGurl87: “There is a local shop that always has always a flock of Cockatoos sitting on the fence late in the afternoon. They appeared to be waiting for something, and the number of birds was increasing, so I asked one of the staff about it. They laughed and said that the birds line up every evening for food scraps. He said it started when they were working with a local food charity to avoid wastage, but there were some food scraps still left over. They noticed some cockatoos were intrigued by the scraps, so rather than just throw it away, they checked if the food was cockatoo-safe. It was, so they put it out for them, one evening before dusk. The cockatoos returned the next evening at the same time. The birds now gather, in increasing numbers, each day like clockwork, 20 minutes prior to the food being put out. This is a source of great amusement, and the birds even adjust their schedule according to daylight savings.” in the Big City Birds App on 22.04.2023
