Sulphur-crested Cockatoo spotted by Ryoma: “The birds are fed by someone 3 doors down from the corner of Boon Lane and Anthony Rolfe Avenue. I suspect that this has been occurring for some years, as one of our rental lease conditions is not to feed any birds from our balcony. They need not worry about that, because my wife gets really annoyed at them pooing on the balcony. They don’t actually do so much, but what’s interesting is that they seem to enjoy visiting just to get a reaction out of her! 😂 She yells “Kora!” at them, which is Japanese for “stop that”” and in this context means “go away!”. We have lived here since November 2021 and she has said this to them since. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when a fortnight or so ago, one of them repeated it back to her! I nearly died laughing 😂! We saw some of the painted cockatoos in Glebe Park in Civic about 3 months ago, then the Riot Act article, and it’s interesting to see them turn up here. Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Aplin 🙂” in the Big City Birds App on 10.12.2023
