White Ibis spotted by Parnee Bonson: “Observed an adult male ibis feeding from the “bird-proof” kangaroo feeders at Taronga Zoo. He walked around to each of the five feeders, lifted the lid with his bill and ate pellets. There were three other ibis with him and they were also trying to access the pellets inside the feeders, but didn’t seem to have perfected the technique. The ibis who was successfully accessing the pellets inside the feeders was taller and had a longer bill than the others in the group, which seemed to make it easier for him. I have recorded this as “bin-opening” as it is a similar behaviour involving opening a lid to access what’s inside.” in the Big City Birds App on 08.05.2022
