Nest spotted by Chris-M: “The mound along the West Promenade boundary of Gilbert Park, Manly, is shallow on the park side but deep on the road side where the leaf litter spills over and so it is hard to gauge the nest’s average depth. This is a view of the nest from West Promenade. Therefore it would be interesting to know how effective it is in incubating the eggs at this stage of its construction. Even if the nest does incubate the eggs satisfactorily, young hatchlings will be lucky not to be squashed by a passing vehicle if their first steps are onto the road. This turkey was probably born in one of the adjacent parks but has been forced out to find a nesting place further afield.” in the Big City Birds App on 24.09.2023
