mountainous spotted by Kaspar UZH: “This is the Schöllenenschlucht, a deep gorge in the Gotthard massif. Above it spans the „devil‘s bridge“, which is at the core of a legend told in the region. Behind the bridge, approximately where the truck can be seen, there is a monument for the Russian general Suworow, whose troops fought a battle against Napoleon‘s. Contrary to common belief, the monument is not Russian sovereign territory, merely the land it stands on is in possession of the Russian embassy in Berne. In my view, this picture is very telling, as it combines mythology, nature, global politics, engineering mastery, „modernity“ and so much more.” in the MTA MountainApp App on 04.11.2022
